I took a slow ride today for he went miles for me.
Slow down; show respect; for he paid so you live free.
He wrote a blank check and then raised his hand
Giving everything he owns to preserve this great land.
Forfeiting his house, his car, maybe his kids and wife;
Everything he holds dear, including his own life.
So, take the slow ride today behind the Patriot Guard bikes,
Behind all the Firefighters, and the Police with flashing lights.
Or, stand quietly on the curb and wave your flag high.
Say a little prayer for him and salute as he passes by.
Heroes are far and few between for the price they have to pay.
Show respect for this fallen hero for He takes the slow ride today.
